My Jaxon Boy

About a month ago, I took some pictures of Jaxon while he was playing at my mom's house.  I thought some of these turned out cute, so I just had to share. He is just too precious!!!

I love the way this one turned out! I have been wanting to try this out and finally got it!  He is 3 years old.

He has since had a hair cut and now has a fauxhawk.

OH, I just LOVE this little boy so much, I just can't stand it!!!!

Sunburst Mirror Tutorial

I hope everyone is well! I have been on the lookout for something to hang over our bed in the master bedroom for quite a while now. I love sunburst mirrors, but didn't really want to buy one. So I decided to make one myself, and I love the way it turned out!

So of course, I always start with my inspiration usually via Pinterest.

Supplies:

Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Wooden Plaque
Bamboo Skewers (100 pk)
Round Mirror (I used 6 in)
Spray Paint
Gorilla Glue
Compass
Mat Board
Picture Hanging Hook

I screwed the picture hanging hook into the back of the wooden plaque. This is how I hung it on the wall.

I used the compass to cut out a circle out of the mat board. This is what I used to glue the skewers to. The wooden plaque wasn't quite large enough. Just make sure this circle is smaller than your mirror.

Then, I used the compass to draw circles on the mat board circle to help me know where to place the skewers. I wanted everything evenly placed, so I figured this would help me the best.

I wanted my skewers to be uneven all the way around. You can see in this picture, how I alternated them at different lengths on the circle.

As you can see, Clemson was a tremendous help with this project. I'm not sure I could have completed it without her.

This is what it looked like once I got all of the skewers glued on the mat board circle.

Next, I spray painted it. I used Oil Rubbed Bronze by Krylon...which let me go ahead and say, looks like black. So I later went back over it a little with some very dark brown spray paint that I had, giving it more of a oil rubbed bronze look.

Then I used Gorilla Glue to glue the wooden plaque onto the back of the mat board circle.

After that was dry, I glued the mirror to the other side of the mat board circle and skewers.

Once the glue dried, I cleaned the mirror and it was ready to be hung up!

Labor Day

Did you have a good Labor Day? I know I sure did! I had a very relaxing weekend! I headed back to Gainesville on Friday. I was finally able to get into the dentist to get my teeth cleaned...so that was refreshing. My mom made chicken and dumplings for dinner, which were delish! My sister and her family went to the beach for the weekend, so my parents kept the dogs for them. The have two miniature dachshunds, Sweet Pea and Daisy.

Then on Saturday, me and my mom went to a few yard sales before going out to the pool for the day.

I guess everyone was off doing things for Labor Day because the pool was empty, which is quite rare for a Saturday. I spent most of the day laying out and reading.

On Sunday, my mom and I went down to Ikea and then to pick up my wedding ring from being cleaned. I love how it sparkles after being cleaned! We came back with plans to lay out again. Unfortunately, the clouds had started to move in, but we went down anyways. After about 45 mins, the sky got black and the thunder rolled in, so we went back inside.

I ended up setting on the deck, reading the rest of the day. It was so nice to set around and pretty much do nothing. I love to set on my parent's deck because it is covered, especially when it rains.

It poured!
On Monday, we had intentions of going to the pool, but that didn't happen once again. It was very overcast all day. I sat on the deck again and read until time for me to leave.  I came back home to Ben studying, of course. So I spent the rest of the evening reading. I guess you could say that's pretty much all I did this weekend but I really enjoyed it!

On another note...do you remember my post where I said I planted these seeds?

Well I thought this thing was never going to bloom. It is a purple pea vine. My mom's has already bloomed, produced pods and started to die, so she already cut hers back for the year. I decided that I would just leave mine and see if it would bloom. I came back yesterday to this....

This thing is absolutely, out of control!!! I think we need a larger trellis next year...

Beautiful blooms

These are the purple pea pods that the vine produces.
